ELEARNING COURSES MADE BY PARENTS, FOR PARENTS

WHY IS PARACHUTE IMPORTANT?

With nearly 5 million LGBTQ+ youth, and only 1 in 3 homes that are affirming (Trevor Project, 2021), there is a critical need to understand the relationship between accepting behaviors and positive mental health, and healthier outcomes for LGBTQ+ children and adolescents.
Children and adolescents with high levels of acceptance:
• are 3x less likely to think about suicide
• have higher self-esteem
• are less likely to be depressed

EDUCATION = BETTER OUTCOMES
When parents and caring adults become more informed about their LGBTQ+ child’s journey, they become empowered to become the best possible advocates for their children. Parachute courses increase general understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, increase affirming behaviors among parents and caring adults, and improve the environment for LGBTQ+ people everywhere.
